Camperdown Cup this weekend
FOR a great family day out, head to the Camperdown race track this Saturday for the running of the 2024 Camperdown Cup.
The Camperdown Turf Club is looking to repeat the success of last year’s Cup, with another top day planned for this weekend.
Club president Anthony Finn said on the back of being selected as a finalist in the 2023 Country Cup of The Year for the 2023 meeting, the volunteer committee was keen to ensure that 2024 was another great day for the local community and all who attend the races.
“We have set about ensuring that we continue to provide an event that is attractive for people to attend and part of that this year is securing Joel Selwood from Geelong and some of his football colleagues,” Mr Finn said.
“They will attend and play an integral part in the hosting duties, punters club and mix with the patrons in the Mounting Yard Marquee on Cup Day.”
Finn said the club was delighted to be able to secure someone with the reputation of Selwood, especially when Joel and his colleagues are so keen on racing.
“We encourage kids to come along and participate in a footy clinic between races two and three and bring their jumpers and footys for him to sign.”
An auction will also be held on race day of an autographed Geelong jumper, with proceeds to go to Foodshare.
Tickets are still available for the mounting yard marquee and can be purchased at www.countryracing/camperdown or by contacting the club directly on 0400 557 625.
The committee has been working tirelessly for many months preparing the venue so that it is in top condition on raceday.
As well as the Mounting Yard Marquee the other usual packages are also on sale including the Rails Umbrella packages, catering and beverage packages.
There will also be plenty of entertainment and activities for young racegoers to enjoy including Kelly Sports, free backpacks, jumping castles, face painting and the ever-popular live music on the front lawn.
