The installation of the fourth reverse vending machine in the Corangamite Shire began on Monday on the corner of Manifold Street and Brooke Street.

Some traffic delays were experienced mid-week to allow for construction works at the site.

A TOMRA Cleanaway spokesperson said the new refund point will join its 177 other refund collection points across the CDS Vic west zone, with 180 planned to be installed by August this year.

“Citizens of Camperdown will soon be able to access a brand new CDS Vic reverse vending machine,” the spokesperson said.

“Located at 245 Manifold Street Camperdown, this new reverse vending machine will provide residents with a convenient and accessible location to return their eligible drink containers for a 10c refund with Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.

“A number of sites were initially identified to host the Camperdown refund collection point.

“After undertaking an evaluation process that takes into account a number of considerations including planning overlays and accessibility, the location at 245 Manifold Street was ultimately selected.”

The TOMRA Cleanaway spokesperson said the refund points have so far collected more than 292 million containers since the CDS commenced in Victoria.

“As west zone operator for CDS Vic, we’re continuously working to provide a convenient and accessible network of refund collection points that allows all members of the community to recycle with ease,” the spokesperson said.

“Located close to the town centre and off the main road in Camperdown, this new CDS Vic location will provide local residents a convenient and accessible location to return their eligible drink containers in exchange for a 10c refund.”

The spokesperson encouraged residents to download the CDS Vic west zone app onto their phones, or visit tomracleanaway.com.au/victoria/ to check the status of collection points before leaving home.

Installation works ongoing: Works have been occurring throughout the week to install the reverse vending machine in preparation for its opening at the end of the month.
