CFA theft a “low act”
POLICE are appealing for information following an alleged break-in at the Derrinallum Country Fire Authority (CFA) station over the weekend.
Warrnambool Police Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan said three offenders allegedly attended the station at around 12.30am last Sunday.
“They’ve cut a rear fence and driven a vehicle in, and they then tried to jimmy open the rear door, which was unsuccessful,” he said.
“They went to the front door, and they were able to break that open.
“Once inside they rummaged through the CFA tankers and stolen two steel chainsaws and a first aid kit.
“It’s not good coming into a fire season – the equipment is essential for the brigade; it’s a really low act.”
Anyone with information, dashcam footage or CCTV footage is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online at crimestoppers.com.au.
