Going UP!
RESIDENTS of Spring Street were quite surprised and fascinated as a portable unit house was lifted into a backyard last Thursday.
The unit was placed into the backyard of a Fergusson Street property.
A crane was positioned in the yard during the afternoon as preparations were made to move the house, with residents wandering out after seeing the crane arm.
The crane arm was reported to have been seen from Hamilton Street, as well as from Fergusson Street.
Some filmed the lift on their mobiles, while others approached the workers during the preparation process to learn more about the work.
One witness, Sue Cole, said watching the process of the house being lifted into the backyard of the property was “amazing”.
“I went past it the other day and had a look, and to get it in on that angle I think it was quite extraordinary,” she said.
“There’s not much room in there.
“That’s what they call progress.”
