Interleague success for women

HAMPDEN League’s under 18 female footballers celebrated victory at last weekend’s interleague match.

Hampden defeated Ballarat Football Netball League by 43-points at Warrnambool’s Reid Oval on Saturday.

The side took a commanding lead early, kicking two goals straight in the opening term while containing Ballarat to just one point.

By half-time Hampden was 14 points ahead, which increased to 35 by three-quarter time.

Final scores were Hampden 6.9.45 to Ballarat 0.2.2.

Scarlett O’Donnell, Lila Evans, Frankie Bant, Leayla Pohl, Nikki Clover and Kate Noseda were listed among the best for the team.

Kate Noseda kicked three goals for Hampden while Marnie Beks, Nikki Clover and Lila Evans contributed one each.

This match was followed by the under 17 boys, which saw Ballarat dominate the game and take home a 66-point win, 14.13.97 to 4.7.31.

Best for Hampden were Samuel Rhodes, Hugo Artz, Campbell Walsh, Des O’Keefe, Parker Walsh and Hugh Morgan.

Goals went to Hunter Cross, Chad Finck, Hugh Morgan and Samuel Rhodes.

In the men’s under 23 interleague match, Hampden fought hard but went down by 31-points to Ballarat, 7.8.50 to 11.15.81.

Connor Byrne and Hamish Cook kicked two goals each for Hampden, while Jett Birmingham, Jackson Grundy and Myles McCluggage kicked one each.

Among the best for the side were Jackson Grundy, Archie Stevens, Jett Bermingham, Jacob Moloney, Harry Ryan and Mac Petersen.
