Lake Purrumbete Angling Club notes
THE Lake Purrumbete Angling Club had its Annual General Meeting recently and there has been a change of faces on the executive and also on the club committee.
The club has a new president, Craig Mitchell, who has been club secretary for the past four years.
Long-time member Rob Hems is the new vice president.
Marie Jopling has taken on the role of minutes secretary while husband Darren remains as club treasurer.
Angie Bongart has taken over the role of membership officer.
The new committee consists of life member Glen Place plus new to the committee are Grant Dodds, Tim Heinze, Warwick Hamer and the club’s first junior committee man, Tim Heinze Jnr.
Craig wanted to thank outgoing committee man Hans Bongart and in particular outgoing president Stephen Hill, who has held the role of president for the past four years as well as secretary for two years prior to that – a great effort.
Craig also wanted to thank Anne Jones, who handed over the job of membership officer to Angie Bongart.
The Lake Purrumbete Angling Club has some exciting changes being implemented in the coming year.
A photo competition where members can send in photos of their catches on a club brag mat caught separately from our regular monthly competitions and be in the running for some great prizes at the end of the season.
These photos will be put in our monthly newsletter as well as on our Facebook member’s page.
We will be again running our twilight fishing competition every Friday night through January, which is open to members and nonmembers alike and has proven to be hugely popular with hardcore fisho’s and families with young kids alike all getting involved.
Social nights and guest speakers throughout the year will be on the agenda and will be open to club people and interested members of the public alike.
Our regular monthly competitions will vary from fishing our famous Crater Lakes to fishing local rivers and estuaries such as the Hopkins River, Curdies River plus our annual two-day competition in Nelson fishing the mighty Glenelg River.
All in all it should be an exciting year ahead for the Lake Purrumbete Angling Club.
Events will be advertised in Western District Newspaper Publications, and on social media so watch this space or follow us on our Facebook page Lake Purrumbete Angling Club Inc.
