Poor weather a factor in rollover
EMERGENCY services were called to a truck rollover on Foxhow Road in Leslie Manor last Friday.
Country Fire Authority (CFA), State Emergency Services (SES), police and ambulance units responded to the incident around 12noon on Friday, September 6, alongside VicRoads.
Camperdown Police Senior Constable Zach Wilson said a white truck with a single male occupant was involved in the rollover.
“He’s come off the left-hand side shoulder of the road, which is a little bit of a drop,” he said.
“He’s overcorrected to get back on the road, which has sent him across the road onto the right side of the road.
“The back end of the truck left the road and started sliding, and then he’s managed to get back up onto the road, but the truck’s tipped on its side.
“It appears just due to the road surface condition and the weather as the road was a bit slippery.”
Snr Const Wilson said the driver only received minor injuries from the incident.
“He went to hospital for observation but was discharged a couple of hours later,” he said.
“There were no serious injuries, but he did receive some cuts to his arm from where the truck tipped over where the driver’s window was broken, and his arm hit the ground.”
Snr Const Wilson advised drivers to take care on the roads following recent wet weather.
“With the inclement weather, adhere to the road rules and drive to the conditions,” he said.
