St Pat’s gives back

SAINT Patrick’s Primary School’s Mini Vinnies team marked another successful Winter Appeal last week.

The appeal is an annual event at the school, with the students in the group collecting various winter apparel twice a week from classrooms.

Volunteering their own lunchtime to collect the donations and run the Mini Vinnies campaign, the students managed to collect 30 donations from the St Pat’s community.

St Vincent de Paul’s Andrew O’Flynn visited the school last Wednesday to collect the donations, speaking with the Mini Vinnies team about their work.

The Mini Vinnies volunteers said they advertised their campaign through the school’s newsletter, as well as by visiting classrooms and speaking at assemblies.

“Families then sent in donations of coats, beanies, blankets and scarves for the Winter Appeal to keep people warm during our cold winter months,” the students said.

“We thank everyone for their very kind and generous donations.

“We can all do our bit to be kind and help others.

“We feel enthusiastic and passionate about social justice and helping others.”

In term three, students will be collecting canned food on behalf of St Vincent de Paul in a can food drive.
